- The J-type hook’s curved shape distributes stress into the concrete more evenly, with less local stress concentration;
- The L-type hook’s right angle tends to create a stress concentration point at the bend, which may develop micro-cracks under prolonged vibration loads;
- For structures with significant wind or seismic loads (e.g. tall towers, cantilevered elements), J-type bolts offer a higher safety margin.
Practical tip: While J-type has better load capacity, L-type remains the preferred choice for many standard factory and equipment foundations due to simpler fabrication and lower cost. Neither is universally superior — it depends on the load conditions.

- General factory columns (C30 concrete): embedment ≥ 20× bolt diameter
- Heavy equipment/tall structures (C35 concrete or above): embedment ≥ 25× bolt diameter — verification by a structural engineer is recommended

- More precise load capacity calculation (plate bearing area can be quantitatively designed)
- Suitable for very heavy loads and wind turbine foundations requiring precise structural analysis
- No stress concentration issue from a bent hook section
