Tapered Insert Nuts (Knock-In Nuts) – 304 Stainless Steel

These 304 stainless steel tapered insert nuts (knock-in nuts) have a knurled, slightly tapered body that is hammered into a pre-drilled hole in timber, MDF or particleboard to provide a durable internal thread. The knurling bites into the wood to prevent rotation, making them ideal for knock-down furniture and detachable joints.

Frequently Asked Questions

How are knock-in insert nuts installed?

Drill a hole matching the nut diameter, then simply hammer the tapered nut into the hole. The wedge-shaped body tightens as it goes in, and the knurling bites into the wood so the nut cannot rotate when the mating bolt is tightened.

What is the difference between knock-in and twist-in insert nuts?

Knock-in (tapered) nuts are hammered straight into a drilled hole — fast and tool-simple. Twist-in nuts have an external wood thread and are screwed in, which gives higher pull-out resistance in softer boards but takes longer to install.

Can insert nuts be used in particleboard?

Yes. The knurled tapered body anchors well in particleboard and MDF, which is why they are widely used in flat-pack furniture. For very soft or thin panels, test the pull-out load for your specific board.

Do you provide material certificates?

Yes. Material test certificates per EN 10204 3.1 are available on request, and our manufacturing is ISO 9001:2015 certified. RoHS and REACH compliance documentation can also be provided.
